Dr. Sophia Ma DPT earned her Bachelors of Science at Rutgers University in New Jersey and Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Dominican College of Blauvelt in New York. Dr. Ma has a wide variety of experience as a Physical Therapist working with patients in outpatient, acute care, inpatient rehab and school based pediatric settings. Her clinical experiences include, but are not limited to, pediatric developmental physical therapy, post operative rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, preventative and wellness, and sports injuries.
Dr. Ma enjoys working with patients of all ages, ranging from pediatric to geriatric. She takes priority in treating all with a patient centered approach. Everyone's needs and goals may be different, which is why having great communication with her patients to work towards each patient's individualized goal is vital to restoring function.
In addition to therapeutic exercises and modalities, Dr. Ma specializes in manual therapy such as Trigger Point Therapy, Soft Tissue Mobilization, Myofascial Release, Active Release Techniques, and Joint Mobilization among others. She has been trained to perform IASTM (Graston Technique) and taken Herman and Wallace courses for Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy.
Dr. Ma is also a firm believer of continuing education and incorporating the most up to date evidence based practice along with her knowledge and clinical experience to deliver the highest quality of care to patients.
During her free time, Dr. Ma loves spending time with her husband and their two daughters. She loves to travel with her family, explore local attractions, try new restaurants, and do outdoor activities.
