How to sleep with sharp back pain

Hi everyone, I’m Dr. Roger from Ishitani Health Center. Today we’re going to talk about the best way to sleep when you have that acute back pain. Now, first things first, we always want to make sure that we have a neutral spine. So whatever direction that you’re sleeping in, which are the two best ways, the spine should be straight. Now, the first way is going to be on your back, and you’re going to have a pillow right underneath your knees, so you can use a bolster pillow like this or a simple pillow that takes the pressure from your lower back. The overall goal is to make sure that the spine is completely straight. The next best way is going to be on your side. So, I’m gonna have you lying facing me, and we’re going to have a pillow right between the knees. So, you’re going to be stuck in the spine, and you can have a pillow right between your knees and the head is going to be completely straight. These are the best ways to sleep. From getting up, going to be removing the pillow. And you’ve got to do, whether you’re on the side or on the back, pushing to the side, and then pushing your legs off the front, and then pushing up. Just like that. Thank you. Have a great day.
