Dry Needling for Chronic Pain
Dry needling is a treatment technique used by our team of chiropractic and physical therapy professionals here in Ft. Lee to treat pain and dysfunction caused by muscle tightness and trigger points.
This therapy involves inserting a thin, solid filament needle into the skin and underlying tissues at a specific point on the body. Dry needling is based on the Western biomedical model of anatomy and physiology and is a form of myofascial trigger point dry needling. Dry needling is used to treat a variety of conditions, including neck and back pain, headaches, shoulder and knee pain, plantar fasciitis, repetitive strain injuries, and myofascial pain syndrome. Dry needling can help reduce muscle tension, improve range of motion, reduce pain, and improve movement patterns. It can also help reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and reduce scar tissue.
Dry needling is a safe and effective treatment for chronic pain and musculoskeletal conditions. With that said, it is important to note that dry needling should only be performed by a licensed physical therapist like our very own Dr. Hoon.
